Jubilate is a Latin word meaning "rejoice" or "feel great joy." Like its namesake and definition, this piece conveys feelings of joy and excitement. At the beginning, a joyful mood is quickly established with percussion and brass and is soon augmented by the woodwinds. As the music progresses, changes in mood, style, and volume are easily heard as the piece comes to a rousing conclusion.
