Pak Ketipak Ketipung

A Malay folk song believed to have originated in East Sumatra, Indonesia, this lively selection is often sung at weddings and other celebrations, usually accompanied by small drums and accordions. Divided into two main parts, the rhythmic part is sung repeatedly to imitate the sound of a ketipung (small drum), contrasting with a more melodic line containing texts that offer advice or lessons about community and life values.
