Bleak Forest

Written for smaller concert bands, the work prioritizes tone quality, color, and expressive effect over technical difficulty, making it accessible while remaining musically evocative. Inspired by childhood memories of a dark and mysterious forest, the music portrays imagined dangers, whispered legends, and moments of magic through contrasting sections. Finger snaps suggest falling raindrops, while later passages depict the tense but playful journey home. The piece ultimately recalls the wonder and innocent fear of childhood imagination, where mystery fades safely into memory.
