This is one of the finest concert/contest works written in many years!  Reminiscent of Percy Grainger and Gustav Holst in many respects, this is a marvelous grade III work.  The first movement, "Ballad," is a lyrical piece in typical British folk song style and is beautifully contrasted by the second movement which is a rollicking, syncopated, jig-like 6/8 "March."  A maestoso ending closes the work in bold style.  Very highly recommended!
