Invictus: the Unconquered
You'll have them from the first note with this powerful work by Philip Sparke! A robust theme in the brasses demands attention in the opening measures, but before long the mood subsides with a gentle flute solo. A sinister modal mood eventually wins out and turbulent themes dominate the work. The juxtaposition of assertive and reflective passages is expertly intertwined to form an intriguing and varied work with real musical depth. It's a very "audience-friendly" work that will keep their interest throughout. Very highly recommended!
