This imaginative work weaves a tale of wizards, dragons, and epic battles in ancient times.  Sprightly melodies, lively rhythms, and tasteful writing for a full complement of percussion open the piece with compelling energy and vitality. The tranquil and flowing adagio features solos for oboe (cued for clarinet) and horn section (cued in saxes).  The opening themes then return to bring the work to a heroic conclusion.
