Adventures In Music Listening has been developed to aid teachers in helping their students to listen to music more effectively and to provide a more varied and rich learning experience. Not only is this program a step forward in music education, but it is also a valuable supplement to the teaching of subjects such as language arts and social science. Here are just a few of the 29 outstanding musical selections featured on the recordings: Ohihi Owo Ti Ka Huhahi? (Africa); Simple Gifts (America); Teasing (Bartok); Golliwogg's Cakewalk (Debussy); Funeral March of the Marionettes (Gounod); Bourree from Royal Fireworks Suite (Handel); The Flight of the Bumblebee (Rimsky-Korsakov) and March of the Siamese Children (Rodgers) The "Big Book" contains full color illustrations depicting each musical selection. The student workbook provides activities such as coloring, identifying sections of the musical form, and identifying families of instruments. The teacher's guide contains lesson plans for each of the 29 musical selections, including historical information, composer biographical information, a musical features sketch, cross-curricular connections, anticipated outcomes and national standards.
