This piece was written for the 2023 New Berlin Eisenhower 7th Grade Band. It features a nice and simple melody that is in a very playable range and key for all instruments. I chose the starting note specifically with beginner horn players in mind. I also wanted to make sure the altos got the melody because I feel like often they get a literal alto harmony part, when they can easily play more melody. The piece got its name when some students brought in rubber ducks for show and tell. After that, we decided to keep them on top of the Smartboard and thus the piece was born. The piece is in Concert E-flat, is 24 measures long, and each part has been meticulously checked and edited for easy reading. Courtesy accidentals are also given. This is written for Flute, Clarinet, Alto Sax, Tenor, Horn, Trumpet, Bass Clef, Tuba, Timpani, Mallets, Snare Drum, Bass Drum, and Drum Set. Parts that are not in the score, but included, are Oboe, Baritone TC, Guitar TAB, a Mallet part that matches the melody, and Bari Sax. This piece can work with a varied instrumentation as many parts are doubled elsewhere. I hope you enjoy 5 Rubber Ducks!
