510 Samba

This is a bright samba written in 2-3 rhumba clave with solo space for alto saxophone, although the solo section is easily opened up to feature multiple soloists. It features a catchy melody played by alto sax, trumpet, and trombone and the whole ensemble gets to sink their teeth into some aggressive a cappella unison lines. This composition was commissioned by Ted Newton and the Moreau Catholic High School Jazz Ensemble. No doubles are required of the saxophones. Top note for lead trumpet is a written high C, and top note for lead trombone is a written high Bb.5-4-4-G,P,B,D
