Each sonatina in Book 1 is preceded by "warm-up" exercises which address certain technical challenges in the piece. The sonatinas in Book 2 offer a path for developing finger dexterity, balance between the hands, and elegant phrase shaping.  Book 3 includes an ample collection of complete sonatinas and selected movements to give the teacher and student a wide range of choices.
