A strong rhythmic beat with a syncopated melody is the hallmark of this solo for left hand alone and brings to mind the sound of steel drums popular in the Caribbean. The piece fits the left hand well and fingering is carefully marked to aid in moving around the keyboard. Grand staff notation is used so the student must read in both bass and treble clefs.
