Featuring an accompanying bluegrass ensemble, this energetic setting of the traditional text is one movement from a larger work, Angel Band, which features tunes and texts of the Appalachian Mountains and the shape-note and early Moravian singing tradition. In the co-creators' words, "We took the image of bands of angels singing and playing at the Nativity as reported in the second chapter of Luke's gospel, and transported that image to Appalachia."
