A Gaelic Overture
Bold and intense! O'Fallon starts with a beautifully scored old hymn tune called St. Patrick's Breastplate, followed by a solo violin introducing a rollicking jig. Where he goes from there is completely unexpected. Players imitate the Irish Bohdran drum by slapping their instruments, phrases are punctuated by floor stomps and even Bartok (slap) pizzicato! A "tour de force" blending old and new sounds!
