In Canada a "large day" is a description for a day full of hope, sunshine and fresh breezes--usually a day which follows a rainy, dismal one. Such is the inspiration for this invigorating piece for 4-6 octaves plus bodhran (a Celtic frame drum) or hand drum. Festive and dancelike at the beginning and end in 6/8 time, two 4/4 sections in the middle provide a nice contrasting feeling. Your ensemble and listeners will enjoy this work which has a wonderful connection with the world around us.
