Abide
Dan Forrest's SATB divisi setting of a poem by the late Jake Adam York is simply stunning! Both the poet and composer were inspired by the old hymn Abide with Me and elements of that tune can be found throughout the composition, though the poem remains secular. The music is homophonic in nature and leaves the listener with a sense of, to quote the composer, "the warmth of a summer's evening." The piano part plays a vital role in the coloring of the piece and seamlessly connects the choral entrances. Abide is a rare and beautiful piece of art; we give it our highest recommendation!
