About Time
Harry James, one of the leading trumpeters of the Swing Era, was a huge fan of the sound and style of the 1950's Count Basie Orchestra. James hired several of Basie's arrangers to write arrangements for him in the early 1960's, including Neal Hefti, Ernie Wilkins, and Thad Jones. However, several of these were never recorded or published until now, and they remained a part of Harry James' library and were discovered in his archives. This arrangement of the Thad Jones original composition About Time features the trombones stating the melody with saxophone and trumpet backgrounds. There are also solo sections for trombones 1 and 2. The Harry James trumpet solo is also included. There's a great shout chorus that leads back to the trombones playing the melody.
