African American History: The Musicians
This is the third installment of the musical collections celebrating African-American historical figures. Chronicling the lives and achievements of four famous African-American musicians, this collection contains songs that may be used individually or performed together with the rhyming speech, creating a mini-musical. Along with reproducible parts, there are learning activities and games for each musician; and with the rhyming narratives that precede each song, memorizing facts becomes a snap! The songs are short and reflect the style of each musician: Scott Joplin, W.C. Handy, Duke Ellington, and Ella Fitzgerald. Choreography by Greg Gilpin is also included. Grades K-6. 15 minutes.
