After Sunset
Publisher Desc.
The moments of tranquility after the sun dips under the horizon are often
breathtaking. The sky can be gold
fading into night and when clouds are present, the sky becomes a canvas of
unlimited color. After Sunset paints
the through its beautiful melodies and shifting meters. The piece gives young string players the
opportunity to play in different meters as it moves between 4/4 and 3/4.
After Sunset is written for two violins and cello but also has optional
viola and bass parts as well as a piano accompaniment part. Take note of the forte-piano at measure 17
as this is the moment that the sun has passed the horizon and night is now
fading. There are many moments of
alternating bowing within micro-phrases such as the moments with two eighth
notes a quarter notes and another two eighths followed by a quarter.
