Agnus Dei

Melvin Brito - Melvin Brito
Publisher Desc.  This piece features a vocal duet with a wind ensemble. Based on the latin text Agnus Dei, this piece evokes feelings of solitude, anguish, meditation, peace and moments of tranquility. From the opening flute solo, to the simple yet understated vocal melody expanding to a brass choir choral, a brief quote from Jesu Joy of Man's Desiring to a reading of Henry Dyke's poem Peace, the piece closes with the vocalists singing the final Agnus Dei offstage with quiet passion. This piece is in honor of my mother, who passed away a few months after its completion.
