Review in Flute Talk Magazine. January 2017: Gibson has arranged this programmatic piano work for piccolo and piano. Based on a poem by J. Clare, (I heard from morn to morn a merry thrush/ Sing hymns of rapture while I drank the sound/ With joy.), the work features Pan-like runs and bird calls. This Romantic-style work has beautiful lyricism and is an excellent adaptation for piccolo. It would be a perfect addition to a college flute recital. K.B.
