Written in memory of a high school band member, this musical tribute is a celebration of life and spirit.  The title refers to his favorite time of year, the end of summer and start of fall,  when the days become shorter and the activities begin. Band camp, football games, band competitions and the indomitable force of youth, all are reflected in the energetic sounds and vibrant nature of the thrilling music.  A truly meaningful piece.
