Big Sky
At about 180 bpm, Big Sky is an easy straight-eighth groove chart with open harmonies and lush colors. Everyone in the band gets a chance to play the melody... even the trombones! The features include moderate ranges, notated rhythm section parts, and an open solo section. Any player can solo with notes from the concert Bb major scale using the included transposed scale sheet, and the solo section can be repeated as many times as necessary with backgrounds cued as desired. For students who wish not to improvise, a suggested solo is included in all parts. Scored for full jazz ensemble, it will sound full and complete with an optional minimum instrumentation of nine players (AAT Saxes, 2 Trumpets, 1 Trombone and PBD Rhythm). Include more players by using any or all of the included Flute, Clarinet, F Horn, Tuba, and Baritone T.C. parts. This chart will compliment any young jazz band program!
