Bird of Hope
Ella Wheeler Wilcox's poem suggests that the bird of hope not soar too high or sing too loud. Taking heed, the composer created much downward movement in the piano accompaniment, while allowing the singers to take some risks, both high and somewhat loud. This charming piece offers great melodic interest in the vocal lines. Exquisite in text and music, it is a work of depth and great rewards for better women's choirs at the high school or collegiate level. Highly recommended!
