Based on seven poems by Langston Hughes, this seven movement work is scored for SATB divisi chorus  and chamber ensemble - flute, clarinet, violin, violoncello, percussion, and piano. This interesting work was commisioned by the University of Missouri University Singers and the Mizzou New Music Ensemble. Movements are: A Black Pierrot; Breath of a Rose; Jazzonia; Justice; Song for a Dark Girl; Silhouette and To a Dead Friend.
