Carol of the Gifts
Author/composer Gerald Custer writes a new carol each Christmas. This entry begins with the magi and their gifts but soon broadens to embrace the larger mystery of Christmas and its many blessings. It opens with unison voices, then broadens by verse to SATB voices in the a cappella third verse. Accompaniment returns in the final verse, which carries the folk-like melody in unison voices with descant.
