If you are looking for simple harmonizations of Christmas Carols, this collection is not for you. If you are looking for something more, you've come to the right place. Much more than simply the basic familiar melody with a simple harmony part, the Carols included in this collection are: Away in a Manger, Carol of the Bells, the First Noel, Go Tell It on the Mountain, God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen, Hark the Herald Angel Sings, Medley in 6/8 (In Dulci Jubiloiaka Good Christian Men Rejoice, Sussex Carol, and I Saw Three Ships), It Came Upon a Midnight Clear, Joy to the World, O Come All Ye Faithful, Silent Night, We Three Kings, We Wish You a Merry Christmas, and What Child is This? Many have enjoyed the duet arrangements found in 12 Christmas Duets, Volumes 1 & 2, arranged by Kenneth Baird. However, the range and technical demands of many of those arrangements made some of them beyond the reach of many intermediate players. These new arrangements fill the need for Christmas duet arrangements for intermediate players that are interesting, challenging, a joy for friends to play together and a great resource for teachers to play at lessons with their students. Additionally, these are suitable for informal Christmas performances and many are appropriate for Christmas church services. Most of these new arrangements are based on the earlier more advanced arrangements, but these have fewer range and technical demands, as well as other changes. While still more challenging than the sort of Christmas Carol duets that are commonly found that are simply the basic melody with an added harmony part, most intermediate trombone, euphonium, or bassoon players will find these arrangements to be a great fit. iand more advanced players will likely find them enjoyable, too!
