Contemplation & Dance on KINGSFOLD
The 'contemplation' section of this arrangement evokes the sedate mood of many of the hymn texts with which it is associated; the random ringing, singing bells and mellow tone of the handchimes all contribute to the soothing effect. The passing of the melody between octaves in the handchimes works beautifully for interest. The 'dance' section introduces a more celebratory mood that is full of excitement, with a quicker tempo, featuring the use of mallets, ring touch and martellato techniques, plus optional hand drum. In addition, a flute part which enhances both sections with a slightly Native-American feel may be added.
