Crown of Aragon
A haunting but stately pavane in the Renaissance style. Young students will experience ABA form in the key of D minor, but only low-two finger patterns are used throughout. The middle section features lower string melodies on the C string for viola and cello, moving briefly into third position in the bass. Alternating between arco and pizzicato not only helps with dynamic contrast but creates a unique texture when accompanied by the optional triangle and hand drum.
