This work is based on a legend of the Rukai of Taiwan, a tribe of indigenous people. The story tells of a princess who secretly falls in love with the snake lord of the Ghost Lake. Opening with a soprano solo, other voices quickly join and add rhythmic and harmonic patterns for the soprano and sometimes alto lines that tell the story. Text, translation, and IPA are provided.
