Die beiden Grenadiere
Publisher Desc.
Arranged for the first time for a symphonic band! Originally, "Die beiden Grenadiere" was a solo vocal baritone and piano composition. "Die beiden Grenadiere" is Heinrich Heine's famous Romanze poem, and it was set to music by Robert Schumann. Heine's poem depicts two French soldiers lamenting France's defeat after the capture of Napoleon. Both are incredibly downcast, but the patriotic and emotional fervor of one is more than he can bear, and so he suddenly committs suicide. This verbal and emotional exchange is materfully orchestrated among the different band instruments. The narrator and each soldier's conversational exchange is depicted by different instruments. There are both solo opportunities and full section expressions for brass and woodwinds. Show off your band with this flourish!
