Don't Get Sassy
This swing/shuffle tune is slightly easier than Thad's original in D flat. The brass ranges are lower with the lead trumpet going to a written B flat with optional high C. The difficult sax soli in the original version has been somewhat simplified. The scoring is standard with optional flute, but can also be played with four saxes, three trumpets, two trombones, and three rhythm. Here's an excellent way to introduce Thad Jones to your aspiring players!
