PERFORMANCE NOTES ***
Easy Peasy Eighth-Notes is a six-note, Grade 1 band piece intended to introduce beginning students to four consecutive eight-notes on the same pitch. The four eighth-notes are always followed by two quarter-notes; thus, when students say the title, Easy Peasy Eighth-Notes, they will actually be performing the rhythm which occurs throughout the piece. To simplify the piece even further, the four eighth-notes on one pitch are always followed by a quarter-note on the same pitch. The tempo 120-132 will be at the discretion of the director based on the skill level of the wind players. Percussion interludes at bars 27 and 51 will allow wind players to rest for eight measures each. Regarding the bass drum part, if the player cannot play four eighth-notes accurately with one mallet, the director may choose to have the bass drum mounted with the batter head facing up and played with two mallets. A second option is to have the bass drum eighth-notes doubled or replaced with a large tom which can then be played with two mallets.
**** Thank you for choosing this composition. I hope you and your students find it enjoyable and instructive.***
