Elegy, Op. 119

Liebermann composed this emotionally charged Elegy in memory of clarinetist Jon Manasse's late father - originally for Clarinet and Piano, and now available for Soprano Saxophone and Piano. The composer's first recital work for saxophone, Elegy begins in plaintive reflection, then passes through an extended section of increasing tension-and-resolve before a reprise brings the piece to a wistful close.
