Ellipsis is a satisfying blend of mixed meter, complex melodies and intense drumming. It calls for 8 players (4 Mallet parts, Timpani and 3 Battery). The beginning of the piece bubbles along with strings of 16th-notes and accented passages which emphasize the meter changes. The mallet players double on drums and woodblocks adding the element of pure rhythm blended with the melody. It then smooths out and transitions into the middle section which is slower and more lyrical. The last part is similar to the first with a slick and powerful ending. Your students and audience will have a blast with it!
