Entangled States is a concertino for multi-percussion soloist and small ensemble. Each percussionist has instruments of a single family - metal, wood, or membrane - while the soloist has a mix of all of them, and then some. During the course of the work, the soloist and ensemble players pass through different states of entanglement, progressing from completely pure states to maximum uniformity. The piece is based on a few simple motifs that expand and are altered during the course of the work.
