Equestrian Pageant

PERFORMANCE NOTES *** Equestrian Pageant is a moderately easy march intended for a Spring performance by a 1st-year band. Graded at 1.5, it is also suitable for 2nd year bands. Students must be secure in counting and articulating repeated 8th-notes. Consecutive 8th-notes are always on the same pitch. Ranges are within the capabilities of beginners. The clarinet and bass clarinet parts are always below the break. Where the brass and woodwinds play alone, cues are provided if one or the other sections is weak. Don't play the cue notes unless they are needed. The march is written in common time with beginners in mind, but if students are familiar with cut time, the march may be conducted in two.
