Written in 1984 for the wedding of my sister and brother-in-law, "Flourish" remained unpublished for nearly 20 years. A traditional processional work in ABA coda form, sounds reminiscent of the well-known trumpet works of the likes of Henry Purcell and Jeremiah Clarke mark the opening sections, while lines reminiscent of the stately manner of Sir Edward Elgar can be heard throughout the B section before the fanfare-like Coda brings the piece to a triumphant close.
