Here is an exciting piece that uses a light spiccato style and tuneful melody to depict, in sound, the harvest moon. The spiccato accompaniment sets the mood as the main theme is stated in the first violins. The melody builds to the B section where it is treated to a more lush accompanying harmony. Thick open fifths in the lower strings provide a strong sense of tension that is finally released by a climactic return of the main theme in a lush and majestic treatment. Great writing for young string players!
