Here It Is
This Shorty Rogers chart was written for the Terry Gibbs Dream Band in the late 1950s but not recorded. It was originally written around the Gershwin melody I Got Rhythm, but didn't contain any of the original tune in the arrangement. Many years later Gibbs wanted to use this arrangement for a Steve Allen 75th birthday concert in 1997, but was not able due to the cost of licensing the composition, so he wrote a new melody. This melody, titled Here It Is, is based on rhythm changes. The tune is played as a duet between vibes and trumpet. Also featured is a solo for piano. Ranges: Trumpet 1 to D6; Trombone 1 to B5.
