Written for The Wartburg Choir in celebration of the 500th anniversary of the Reformation, I Still Possess juxtaposes a vernacular quote of Martin Luther ("…whatever I have placed in God's hands, that I still possess") with his text, Wir glauben all einen Gott, creating a powerful expression of hope. The Luther quote is set in rubato choral style, and the hymn text is set to the Wir Glauben tune in chant style. An unusual and remarkable piece for SATB divisi a cappella voices.
