The poem penned by Lt. Col. John McCrae, a physician, calls us to
remember those who have given their lives for freedom. McCrae served in the
Flanders region of Belgium in WWI, and wrote the poem after the loss of his
close friend. McCrae noticed how poppies quickly grew around the graves of
his fallen comrades. This original melody is accompanied by horn and piano.
