The Jive Samba
Recorded by the Cannonball Adderley Quintet in the 1960s, this distinctive samba with a rock flavor was composer by Cannonball's brother Nat. Featuring a soulful and relaxed groove and the familiar riff-like melodies, this chart uses an ensemble of three saxes, trumpet and trombone alternating with punches from the entire ensemble. Suggested solos are included for alto and trumpet, and the shout chorus features occasional 3/4 measures thrown in for added spice. For additional solo options, scale/chord sheets are also included. Very highly recommended!
