Just So in the North
This fun arrangement in D major is based on an 18th-century dance tune written by escaped slave Ignatius Sancho. Each section gets a turn with the melody. Skills students will reinforce include string crossings, pizzicato, arco and back, and eighth, quarter, and half-note rhythms. Basses practice easy shifting. Instructions for the dance that goes with the tune are included, so don't be surprised if the audience dances along!
