Let Our Gladness Know No End
Publisher Desc.
The lyrics for "Let Our Gladness Know No End" come to us from a 19th century translation of the Czech Christmas carol Narodil se Kristus pan. Although the English translator/lyricist is unknown, one source attributes the translation to Laura Underwood in 1884. The melody derives from a Latin and Czech hymn from before 1500 contained in the Gradual of the Czech Silver Museum in Kutna Hora. This new arrangement treats the lyrics as a joyful call and response (anitphonal) celebration of the birth of Christ. The piano chimes in throughout providing a happy, carillon-like accompaniment.
