Madrigals for a New Age
Publisher Desc.
Performed individually or as a set, the six madrigals in this collection draw on the rich heritage of the Renaissance, both in textual and musical style. Subjects include nature, food, the fleeting of youth, and (most of all) love. Musically, they are moderately difficult, five-voice settings that utilize a variety of textures from homophonic to fugal imitation. The harmonies are contemporary, but the tonal context allows the lines to be primarily conjunct and easily accessible.
