My Eternal King
Publisher Desc.
for SATB and organ This tender and powerful setting of a 17th-century Spanish text portrays Christ's sacrifice on the cross. The choral texture contains ample variety; the first verse is sung by the women only, the second, by the men only. The final section is richly scored for SATB choir with some divisi, and the ending is wonderfully declarative as the choir exclaims 'thou art my God and my eternal king!' This is a very accessible anthem, perfect for Lent and Passiontide.
