Open unto Me
For Lent, communion, or general use, this piece should be sung simply as a prayer. Howard Thurman's original text has been adapted for continuity of rhythms and ideas in a lyric form. The "Open unto me" phrases work well as the assembly's part, particularly when introducing it to a congregation, with a cantor or choir singing the various tropes. A gentle, effective sung prayer.
