This wonderful movement is very well adaptable for string orchestra as it offers interesting melodic material for all sections. The use of harmonics and pizzicato establish a light mood, but there are forceful sections which allow for strong sectional playing. There is lots of energy and momentum, as well as a modal character which gives the music an exotic sound. A fabulous work for upper level string orchestras!
