Mark Miller - Mark Miller Music
This is not an arrangement of Faure's Pavane or the Ravel Pavane for a Dead Princess. It is an entirely original work for wind quintet. Still a stately dance it is tuneful and fun to play and the performers and audience might never realize how non-traditional the harmonies are. The dance surrounds a middle section that is a little more harmonically pungent. Adapted from my work for junior-high band Dances and Hexes, this version retains the original's introduction - a sly reference to a standard band warm-up designed to introduce unsuspecting youngsters to the chromatic scale.Duration: 6:15.
