Pirates of Penzance
Composed in 1879 on the heels of "H.M.S. Pinafore," "Pirates of Penzance" had the distinction of two world premieres - one in London and one in New York on identical dates. The Bryceson Treharne/G. Schirmer edition was one of the first authentic editions of the work, and it has been used by opera companies worldwide for more than a century. Updated in 2002 with critical essays, selected discographies and videographies, and illustrations from Gilbert's own sketches, this is a handsomely-bound vocal edition that is a fitting tribute to the legacy and appeal of these two artistic giants.
